Listen people! If you believe in science, you don’t have to eliminate God from your beliefs as well. If you believe in God, you shouldn’t eliminate science. Science is a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general life and laws. Look it up people! Humans created science, based on facts we’ve discovered and explored throughout the years of our existence. However, it is possible for any of these facts to be proven wrong in someway because part of science is knowing that anything is possible. God is a faith choice, and faith is a calculated guess , just like science is. It is possible to believe in both. Some people believe that the world was created from The Big Band Theory, a box of junk that exploded and created earth.
Well, isn’t it possible that God made junk inside the box? Or he created the things that had created the stuff that created the junk inside such box? This is what some people misunderstand. God made the first seed to the first tree by making the thing that made the seed in the first place. With this religious theory, science comes into play. Therefore, making this theory not only religious, but scientific as well. It isn’t that the Bible is all made up or conceived. If you’ve done your research, you would know that there are actual facts discovered by scientist, that support the Bible and that support the “miracles” and occurrences in the Bible. What you have probably never thought of is that maybe God is the best scientist of them all and that he created the world in a way that it would make sense using a hypothesis.

Well, if religion should be taught at school, then they should go over all the religions. Not just christianity. I’m a christian myself but I’m kinda open with ideas such as other religions. People should be allowed to believe in whatever they want to. Christians shouldn’t try to convert everyone in this world. When I go out the streets and church members talk about God, even if I’m a christian, its sooo annoying.

Look im in high school and when i see some kid praying i go to him and i pray with him! If you think its wrong to pray or believe in God at school then i really don’t care because that’s between you and God, but i think it’s wrong that they teach evolution in school! Evolution is wrong and hasn’t and won’t ever be proved right. Even though evolution is a theory, schools around the globe teach it as a fact. So if your a non-believer and you have a problem with kids “shoving” it down your throats than try being a believer and having that crap put in your head! It’s stupid! I have to listen to it everyday and whats worse is the teacher that teaches me it, is a very religious person!

    GOSH!

Public schools can’t teach religion in the first place. Where are these people getting this from & i quote “I think it’s rediculous that schools are taking religion out of schools. I think this part of the reason the younger generation are disrespectful and rude. -BK”
Anyways.. public (free) schools never teach religion in the first place you should be more specific when saying ‘all these school taking religion away from the instructional classroom’ because there are PUBLIC SCHOOLS(the majority&free) VS. PRIVATE SCHOOLS. I believe that schools are meant for enhancing: social skills, develop thinking skills, and overall education!! All this is preparing children with what they need for their future jobs.. i’m not saying religion is bad, but it doesn’t really pay the bills. It is okay for parents to nurture their kids with morals & religion at HOME. So that THEIR kids can grow up to the beliefs they were brought up, but when it comes to school.. you go there to learn and become a successful person who is knowledgeable. Students can practice their beliefs elsewhere or if the parents really want to strengthen their ‘ways’ they can pay with their own money for a PRIVATE school. I would go on, but this should suffice.
    Thanks, May.

  20. I think it’s rediculous that schools are taking religion out of schools. I think this part of the reason the younger generation are disrespectful and rude. That and parents not being allowed to spank their kids. Kids need a consequence to fear, getting a lecture or getting sent to their room is not an effective way to discipline. I smack to the mouth for back talk, or a butt spanking will do the trick. I don’t condone beating your kids, but when they need a spanking they should get one.

Religion shouldn’t be taught at schools unless its a religious school. No one should have to learn about something they dont believe in. and im sure your generation was as disrespectful. you just choose to conveniently forget about it. i see it happen all the time to suit someones purposes. i even do it sometimes. and parents are aloud to spank their kids. they are aloud to discipline them as long as they dont leave a mark. its not illegal.

Evolution and Science arn’t beliefs, that’s why they’re taught in schools. Science is knowledge of the world obtained through observation and experimentation, teaching Science (of any kind), is simply teaching facts accepted with overwhelming evidence, for example, the Water Cycle. While I agree it’s important for kids in schools to learn about religion, I think they should about many different religions (as opposed to only Christianity), like Hinduism, Buddism, Judaism, and many others. Again, learning is different than practicing, and ultimately the choice belongs to the parents of whether they want their child to learn about other religions, but Science isn’t a choice to not learn, because it is not a belief.

    Elle,
I was thinking about the parenting license one myself. I think that license should be required before giving birth. I state this because too many parents these days are drug addicts, too young and irresponsible, and abusive in more ways than one. I think that if you can not pass certain written and hands on test that show that you have good caring skills and good morals, then you should be able to keep your child. There are way too many people out there that cant have kids that would love too take care of one and make it there own.

    Hi,
I have a couple questions regarding Should People Have to Get a License to Become Parents?
How would you go about it to get a license?
And what would be some supporting points?

Obviously this topic will open a lot of doors for wandering minds, but how would I narrow it down?

Here’s an intro I put together, if you can reply back your opinions.

Seeing, hearing, and witnessing from social networks, news media, and experience when it comes to child abuse (verbally or physically), I believe that not everyone should be allowed to have kids. Why? Some people aren’t cut out to be a parent. Everyone who is considering giving birth to a child should talk to medical professionals (doctors and psychologists) before they are even able to conceive. Both the man and the woman should be tested for any mental illness, in case they are … A background check should be run for both … Any records of domestic violence should decline that person’s request of having a child.

I wrote a rough draft for an intro, if you can reply back your opinions.

I also want to write about bullying being that it’s posted all over social networks. But what’s there to argue about? Most people would agree to end bullying, so there leaves no kind of argument.

It’s not about arguing your case to end bullying, but to just persuade them, the school or even the government, to take action against cyber-bullying NOW. And not wait until another case comes along where the victim feels death is the only escape. You could say something about how the bullying that happens at a school is being prevented by the school/school-board but not enough is being done to prevent cyber-bullying, which is a serious issue because of the fact that it’s online. You could start out by say something about how we’ve made progress in technology and explain a bit about social networks and how others can see your personal info, type messages to you from halfway across the world and type lies or slander that can’t be erased. With the technological progress there’s little privacy left and not just that but these cyber-bullies have the advantage of anonymity and so there’s no fear in them that they’ll be caught. They’re online-predators who care little for anyone but themselves and find satisfaction in hurting others and will go to the extent where the victim can’t handle the misery, humiliation and pain any longer. They won’t stop, not until the school or better yet the government gets involved. Add in whatever else you feel is missing; these are just a few of the things I believe should go into a persuasive essay about cyber-bullying if I were to write it. Hope that helps. Actually, writing this helped me since I have to choose a topic for a persuasive essay as well. I guess I’ve chosen it. Anyway, I gotta go write an essay. Let me know if any of this helped. 🙂

Just started from the top reading down! Your topics are excellent, but somewhat boring!! Then the religion comes in…………. THE biggest cause of hate and violence and war in the world! If there actually is any God, I’m sure she’d be outraged at the thought of the judgement and disgust her followers impose on their children! Why is it not acceptable to so so many people to allow others to make their own decisions and have their own regrets without having to refer to a book of which the interpretation is manipulated to suit.

OK Aaron, everyone has the right to believe in what they want, so if kids want to pray and isn’t harming you, you don’t have to harm/tease them. Teasing does not make you cool, maybe it does to you and your friends, but in others eyes it doesn’t. You can choose not to believe in stuff that you think there is no evidence for or believe in someone you can’t see, but please don’t harm/tease those who don’t agree with you. What they say is very real so it’s not just crap. And don’t feel forced to do something just because everyone else is, that is peer pressure and is not right in any case. I hope and pray though that you might come to find and accept God, and that he will let you know that he is always with you no matter what, he still will love you no matter how many bad thing you do, he is always there, and even though you might not get what you want from him he knows what he is doing, I hope and pray for you Aaron that we may meet in Paradise/Heaven, please comment, i would love to hear back from you!

Okay first of all: “devil worshipers”? Really? Jesus was accepting, not condemning.

And second of all: Evolution is based on FACT. The fact that things change over time, and that things adapt to their surrounding, are you really going to deny that? Religion is based off IDEAS. The whole thing about religion is that NOTHING can be proven, not a thing. Sure there are some things unexplained in this world that COULD point to the existance of God, but that doesn’t mean it does. I think religion was created as a way to point fingers and claim land that isn’t yours, but of course, we may never know if that’s true or not. Believe what you want to believe, but don’t condemn others for their own beliefs.

P.S> When I WAS a Christian, I believed in Evolution. You don’t have to completely knock one if you believe in the other, let people believe what they want to believe.

OrcaEss you are wrong ,evoltion is based on theory!! Scientists find some facts ,find a pattern ,and call it a theory and there isnt proof that evolution happened.theres is proof that GOD created Earth and us.

Ok, first “Jesus”. If you’re trying to convince people to look at religion in a good way, you probably shouldn’t call yourself God and the nonbelievers “devil worshipers”.

I agree. Jesus was accepting, not condemning. If you think that just because people don’t believe in God and the Holy Trinity are Satanists; then you are not even clos to resembling the man that you worship. I am a Christian and the whole concept of the religion is to be the embodiment of the Holy Spirit, not to condemn those who don’t believe. That is all.

so science shouldn’t be taught in school either. Science is based on theory which i will define for you as:the·o·ry   [thee-uh-ree, theer-ee] Show IPA
      noun, plural the·o·ries.
      1.
a coherent group of tested general propositions, commonly regarded as correct, that can be used as principles of explanation and prediction for a class of phenomena: Einstein’s theory of relativity. Synonyms: principle, law, doctrine.

IE. a theory is not proof! get your facts straight.

When youre taught about science youre told they are theories, “Einsteins THEORY of relativity” . No one says the theory of god . Its told to be fact.

You’re a complete idiot. I’d recommend looking up what a theory means in science. Go to notjustatheory.com if you’re actually interested in what’s true. Evolution is a fact. Nearly every scientist working in the field regards it as true. There’s countless pieces of evidence for it. I’d suggest actually reading a book if it’s not too much for you.

I agree with you Aaron. I don’t beleive in ‘god’ yet my parents force me to go to confirmation and lead a life that says that I believe in god and really don’t.

I have to dissagree with you aaron. I’m not personally a Christian, although I once was, but I believe religion should be TAUGHT in schools. Emphasis on taught, only because the way you are saying it is like they are shoving it down your throat. Religion is a huge thing to learn about because of the many things it has started such as wars, movements, and many other significant things in history.
We should learn about it, and people should worship who/what they want to. But just because others do, sdoesn’t mean you have to fall into peer pressure or tease them for it. That’s just completely ridiculous. If you feel the need to tease someone for there beliefs, get ready for an angry mob doing the same to you.
And for you Religionists: “Do others as they would do unto you” I believe that’s a main rule for many of you. So in other words let us believe what we want and we’ll let you do the same.

If religion were to be taught in schools, I don’t think one would be forced to pray. The key word here is TAUGHT, not PRACTICED. Just because you learn about the religion doesn’t mean you have to be forced to practice it too.

If you get taught religion they dont mean that you’ll have to take part in there rituals and stuff, you’re teacher would tell you about there religion, what thier beliefs are, what thier practices are. In Canada we do this. My teacher assigned me a religion (Islam) and I had to reaserch it. Others had to reaserch a Christianity, Judasim Budddhism etc. Just because I reaserched Islam dosen’t mean I’m now a Muslim. I think it is good to know about others religions because everyone you meet will have some sort of belief, wether they are Athiest or Christian it’s good to know what they belive in.

And also, what makes you think it’s okay to teach evolution in school if not religion? You would feel uncomfortable praying in school? How do you think religous kids would feel bieng forced to deny there own god!!! You wouldn’t want to practice other’s religions in school, but, well Athieism is your religion, and you’re saying you are fine with your religion bieng taught in school but when it comes to other’s religions it is wrong. That is absoulutley idiotic!!!

I don’t think this is right, let people believe what they want to, but the way you are saying it is wrong also, they should def teach something about it in schools , but be more open to everything , not just one religion, so I have to dissagree with Aaron.

I am going to share this website with my college speech teacher. She is having us partner up and have each partner look at one side and we try to persuade. I know it is a weird way to do things but a lot of the topics you, Mr. Morton, have decided to put here would be great for this so I would like to thank you for being brave to through your ideas out on the World Wide Web. Finally for you who like to argue the topics-this is a website to give topics not whether you think they are morally fit to be on here as Derek said: everyone is entitled to their opinion and not everyone’s opinion is the same. You should give props to Mr. Morton for publishing his ideas so that everyone can use his ideas to recieve a topic and just remember don’t argue when angry, staying calm gets more respect from the audience. Once again thanks Mr. Morton! 🙂

Abortions are not a sin,if the embryo could not come out into the world and live on its own then it is not a baby or a human yet,so abortion by 3 months is just fine.Mind your own business.
